A Transition Model based on Creative Socio-Technical System:
In Search of Post Catch-up Theory (2011-2016)
○ Objective of research
1. This research project aims to characterize unique technological innovation patterns of Korea by analyzing socio-technical systems during catch-up and post catch-up periods, and therefore attempts to search for a new growth model. The project addresses following issues in this regard:
a. Innovation capabilities and organizational/institutional assets accumulated during catch-up period
b. Newly emerging innovative activities and changes in the organizational/institutional arrangements by elements of the system (organizational culture, inter-firm relationship, education, skills development, public policy, financial institutions, culture, etc)
c. Changes in the socio-technical environment and newly required innovation capabilities in the global context
d. Designing socio-technical system for post catch-up
2. Understanding the environment and dynamism of transition period from latecomers’perspective and developing strategies for transition.
a. Understanding system dynamism and searching for transition strategies
b. Developing theories for latecomer-specific growth models
